This ride is designed for intermediate to advanced riders with good fitness levels. You’ll be riding at altitudes ranging from 2,800m to 4,300m, with some sections requiring you to push or carry your bike to reach the trailheads. The challenge is part of the adventure, and the unforgettable descents that follow will make it all worthwhile.

Trip Overview

Lower Mustang, located just north of Pokhara and below the famous Thorong La Pass, offers a mountain biking adventure unlike any other. Known for its dramatic landscapes and rich culture, this region combines challenging high-altitude rides with breathtaking scenery. With altitudes ranging from 2,800m to 4,300m, this trip is perfect for intermediate to advanced riders who are ready to explore the rugged beauty of Nepal. Whether you're navigating ancient trade routes or descending from Himalayan ridges, Lower Mustang promises a unique and unforgettable riding experience.

Prepare for a ride that pushes you both mentally and physically. Lower Mustang offers a mix of exhilarating trails, some of which require riders to push or carry their bikes to reach hidden trailheads. These efforts are rewarded with sweeping descents, including one of the longest mountain biking downhills in the world. The trails snake through rugged landscapes, crossing rivers, valleys, and open plains, with stunning views of snow-capped peaks and the expansive Mustang region. From technical rocky sections to fast-flowing singletracks, this journey showcases the diverse terrain of Nepal.

Beyond the incredible riding, Lower Mustang is a cultural journey through time. As you ride through villages, you'll discover the unique heritage of the region, influenced by centuries of Tibetan culture. Interact with the local communities, savor traditional Nepali food, and take in the deep-rooted Buddhist traditions that permeate every corner of Mustang. You'll also pass through the world’s deepest gorge, the Kali Gandaki, adding yet another awe-inspiring dimension to this adventure. To top it off, relax in natural hot springs at the end of your ride and soak in the magic of Nepal’s mountain culture.

DAY 01: ARRIVAL IN NEPAL

Welcome to the adventure of a lifetime! After arriving at Kathmandu International Airport, you’ll be transferred to Hotel Woodapple. If time allows, we'll assemble the bikes and take you out for a delicious welcome dinner featuring local cuisine. Meet your guide and get an overview of the epic journey ahead. Accommodation: Hotel Woodapple Meals Included: Dinner

Day 2: The Local Ride Experience

Today we get up early and do every local mountain biker’s weekly ritual, ride the fabled Heli Pad Trail. This is a short, sweet technical ridge line ride and lots of fun. We end up in Bouldanath Stupa. Here we get the chance to experience the rich buddhist culture surrounding this monument. We soak up the tranquil environment and enjoy lunch on one of the many rooftops. The jeep will leave us and transfer the bikes to Pokhara. We take some time for sightseeing and also enjoy a visit to Pashuptinath Temple, one of the holiest Hindu Centers in Nepal and the place where most Hindus will go to be cremated. We return to the hotel and have a nice afternoon preparing for the trip ahead. Accommodation: Hotel Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 3: Travel to Pokhara

Start your day with a quick 25-minute flight to Pokhara. After checking into Hotel Karuna, we’ll head out for a warm-up ride to the World Peace Pagoda, where you’ll enjoy breathtaking views before an exhilarating single-track descent. Accommodation: Hotel Karuna Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4: Fly to Jomsom (or Drive)

Catch the early morning views of the mountains before we board a spectacular 22-minute flight to Jomsom. After breakfast and prepping the bikes, we drive towards the isolated village of Phylak. Our ride leads us to the charming village of Kagbeni for acclimatization and an overnight stay. Accommodation: Teahouse in Kagbeni Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 5: Thorong Phedi & Legendary Lubra Valley Lines

We shuttle up towards the famous Thorong La pass, then descend to Muktinath before climbing to 4200m for an epic 1200m descent down the Lubra Valley trail. Enjoy fast-flowing trails and high-altitude vistas before returning to Kagbeni. Accommodation: Teahouse in Kagbeni Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 6: Remote Wilderness of Dolpa

We drive deep into the remote wilderness of Dolpa, reaching Bhima Lojun La at 4400m. The day offers spectacular scenery as we ride single tracks through canyons, ending back in Kagbeni. Later, we ascend to Jomsom View Tower for breathtaking views of Nilgiri and Dhaulagiri before heading to the hidden gem of Tinigoan for the night. Day 7: The Mighty Mesokanto

A 2-hour hike and bike to Mesokanto Base Camp (5000m) leads us to some of the most awe-inspiring views imaginable. After taking in the scenery, we’ll ride back down single tracks to Tinigoan. Accommodation: Teahouse in Tinigoan Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 8: Let's Pedal - Tinigoan to Titi Lake

Today’s ride takes us along single tracks and trekking trails, passing through alpine forests and villages, including a Tibetan refugee camp. We’ll climb toward the serene Titi Lake, nestled in a picturesque valley, and spend the night in simple accommodations. Accommodation: Teahouse in Titi Lake Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 9: Technical Ride to Tatopani

From Titi Lake, we descend 2000m through technical downhill trails, navigating narrow stone steps and exposed cliffs. For a more relaxed option, a jeep track is also available. The ride follows the river, ending at Tatopani, where we can relax in the natural hot springs for a bit and then drive to Ghorepani. Accommodation: Teahouse in Tatopani Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 10: Sunrise at Poonhill for Himalayan Panoramas

Rise early to hike to the summit of Poonhill for a stunning sunrise and panoramic Himalayan views. After breakfast, enjoy a thrilling 2000m descent on technical trails and jeep tracks to Nayapul. In spring, the trail is adorned with blooming rhododendrons. We then drive to Pokhara. Accommodation: Hotel Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 11: Travel Back to Kathmandu

We take a mid-morning flight back to Kathmandu, check into Hotel Woodapple, and have the afternoon free for last-minute shopping and sightseeing in the city. Accommodation: Hotel Woodapple Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 12: Departure

Transfer to the airport for your onward flight, taking with you unforgettable memories from this incredible adventure. Meals Included: Breakfast

Deposit Requirement
You are required to pay a deposit of 20% of the total trip amount for your booking to be confirmed.

Final Payments
Payment of the balance of the trip price is due 7 days before the departure date if paying via International Bank transfer or on the arrival day if paying in cash (US$, EURO, AUD or NPR) .

Cash will be accepted according to the exchange rate on the day of payment. Credit card payments incur a 3.2% bank charge.
